Can any model Porsche truly be "forgotten"? You would think not, but the 924 Carrera is one so few talk about that maybe it has. And it shouldn't be. Porsche 924 Carrera - Evolution to Excellence by Roy P. Smith explains why.
A hlogation model, the 924 Carrera was introduced in 1980 to qualify the 924 to compete in Group 4 racing. A true "super car" of its time, the 924 Carrera was capable of a 150 mph top speed and was said by many to handle better than the 911s of its time. In fact, many believe that the performance of this car was actually a threat to the venerable 911 and one of the main reason behind Porsche's decision to do away with the front-engined 968.
At nearly 320 pages long, the book contains meticulously researched material from the Porsche archives including more than 400 images, race statistics and stories and interviews with many of those involved in the creation and racing of the car.
Limited to just 1500 copies, Porsche 924 Carrera - Evolution to Excellence is a hefty and worthy addition to you Porsche library.
