Earlier today we received the following via email, Let me introduce a LEGO creation i think you'll like: The Porsche 917K, Le Mans 1971 winner: Engine, suspensions, steering, removable body panels, gullwing doors: almost all you can find in the real car is here. Proposed on the LEGO ideas website, this 917 could become an official LEGO set if 10000 votes are reached. The email contained a link, and the 917K you see above and below is what we found.
Created by LEGO user Greg998 this is a 1/8 scale LEGO version of the Porsche 917K that won 1971 24 Hours of Le Mans. His version features real steering, full suspension, the flat 12 engine, removable engine cover, and a modular structure that allows you to build other versions of the 917 from this chassis.
If you're a LEGO fan, and this is something you would like to see available for sale, you can help make it happen. Simply and lend it your support by voting for it. You'll need to register to vote, but they've made it easy to do so by tying in social media profiles. Having already built the LEGO Porsche 918, we'd love to see this become available.
