Singer Vehicle Design's legal department doesn't want you to call it a Singer Porsche, a Singer 911, a Singer Targa or anything else other than a "Porsche 911 reimagined by Singer" (presumably because Porsche themselves doesn't want Singer to). Names aside, this "reimagined" Targa speaks to me in a voice so much louder than other Porsches. It makes me want to sell my house, my dogs, vital organs and anything else I need to in order to call one my own.
This 911 marks the first Targa that's been "reimagined and restored" by Singer and they did so with the help of Ed Pink Racing Engines. Using Singer's "typical" 964 donor, Ed Pink Racing Engines pulled the original, numbers matching, 3.6 liter engine and rebuilt it into a 4.0 liter, 390 hp monster. That's mated to a 6-speed gearbox pulled from a 993.
The interior is layered with orange leather and sued mix weave that contrasts nicely with the Targa Grey exterior.
Fans of Porsche's Targa design will notice that Singer took some liberties in adding their own special touches to their restoration. The Targa hoop is covered in nickel plating vs. stainless steel.
In addition, on the Singer version there are just two louvers to be found vs. three on the original 911 targas and none on the original 964 version.
Not content with the usual/traditional collapsible Targa roof insert, Singer created a lift-up panel made from carbon fiber with a proper headliner and covered in the same material you would find on a cabriolet top. According to Singer's founder, Rob Dickinson, it "makes the car just look a little sharper."
